Todd led the political risk management of some of the largest mining projects built in the 21st century. In doing so, he has built a deep understanding of the interconnections and dependencies among companies, governments, and the communities in which they operate, as well as what it takes to succeed.
At both Newmont Corporation and Fortescue, Todd led efforts to redirect each company's focus toward engagement with the US government as it began to recognize the importance of critical minerals to the future of national security and economic prosperity.
At Newmont, Todd also led government relations and communications strategies for two successful divestments in 2024: the $1B sale of the Akyem Mine (Ghana) to Zijin Mining, and the $450M sale of the Telfer/Havieron Mine (Australia) to Greatland Gold.
Before working in mining, Todd had a career in the Australian government, working across various administrations on significant projects, infrastructure, and natural resource planning.

Most recently, Mitchell was Managing Director of Global Public Affairs at CPP Investments (the manager of the Canada Pension Plan), where he supported global transactions, portfolio management, and the Fund’s relationship with international institutions.
Mitchell was formerly Head of Government Relations for the Corporate and Investment Banking Divisions of Barclays and a key advisor to the global senior leadership team on political and corporate positioning and issues management. He has testified before the US Congress, presented at multilateral forums such as the United Nations, the OECD, and the World Economic Forum, lectured at multiple US and foreign universities, and represented companies before government bodies of every stripe.
Diego has special expertise in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market, having grown up in Argentina and worked in business and politics throughout the hemisphere. He was a media executive for almost a decade with Univision Communications, the country’s premier Spanish-language media company, where he ran the company's flagship station in Los Angeles, launched its internet division in Miami, and created the first-ever Spanish-language morning newscast.
Earlier in his career, Diego worked on the campaign of the first Latina elected to the US Congress, as well as the historic 1990 Nicaraguan presidential election, which marked the first time in history that a communist regime was ousted at the ballot box.
Diego received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from the University of Virginia and has completed advanced studies at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is a dual citizen of the United States and Spain.
